    Description

    Role Description:

    • The Executive Director of Public Works plays a crucial role in the Senior Management team, overseeing all aspects of the Public Works Department.
    • Areas of responsibility include Engineering, Maintenance, Water & Wastewater, Fleet Vehicles, Airports, Bridges, and Roads.

    Immediate Supervisor:

    • Chief Administrative Officer

    As a key member of the Municipality's Senior Management Team, the Executive Director participates in setting priorities, implementing the Strategic Plan, and managing corporate goals in line with Council policies.

    Working closely with the CAO, the role involves designing, maintaining, and reviewing organizational plans, developing Municipal standards, and ensuring their application.

    The Executive Director prepares monthly reports for Council, provides advice on engineering studies and regulatory requirements, and makes recommendations on consultants and contractors for departmental projects.

    • Supervises consultants and contractors, administers agreements, and oversees budget development.
    • Coordinates asset management plans, builds relationships with stakeholders, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Implements Council directives, minimizes risks, and provides oversight on transportation and water systems.
    • Conducts employee reviews, encourages training, and may act as CAO when needed.

    The role requires identifying challenges, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and familiarity with relevant legislation and engineering requirements.

    Strong computer literacy, project management, and decision-making abilities are essential, along with a Class 5 Driver's License.
