- All qualified candidates will be considered, however preference will be given to Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
- The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Science, Psychology, Public Health, Health Evaluation or a minimum of three years' equivalent experience in the field of health program and/or community-based evaluation.
- Experience with developing, managing, and conducting developmental, formative and summative evaluations in a variety of settings is required.
- Strong PC software skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Powerpoint, Excel), Internet Search Engines, Survey Software (e.g. SurveyMonkey), qualitative software (e.g. NVIVO), at least one statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS), and the ability to learn new programs quickly.
- The successful candidate will have significant experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and analysis, and a strong understanding of the application of Indigenous evaluation and ethics principles, including the principles of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP).
- The successful candidate will be experienced in community engagement and facilitation, both in person and virtually. Other requirements include a thorough understanding of principles and practices of Indigenous engagement along with demonstrated community connections.
- Superior verbal presentation and written communication skills are required. The incumbent will also demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, diplomacy and tact.
- The incumbent will have a thorough understanding of the health, mental health and social service sector, government programs and current legislation that may affect Indigenous clients.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze research and grey literature and explain findings to non-academic audiences.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and prepare reports, presentations and publications for academic and lay-audience.
- Demonstrated success working and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on team-based projects.
- Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to multi-task, produce and coordinate projects to tight deadlines.
- Developed interpersonal communication skills including experience developing and maintaining partnerships and networks of significant numbers of internal and external partners.
- Bilingualism in French/English or an Indigenous language would be an asset.

Shkaabe Makwa is seeking to fill a role for a full-time, permanent Program Consultant – Evaluator. Reporting to the Manager, Evaluation and Performance Measurement, (with a dotted line to the Manager in theINTREPID Lab (formerly the Nicotine Dependence Service), the Evaluator will support the development and implementation of evaluation and data projects utilizing evaluation approaches, frameworks, tools and metrics that are grounded in Indigenous worldviews, while ensuring culturally-safe processes and culturally relevant pathways are upheld and respected throughout all evaluation phases. The evaluator will build and execute evaluation plans for community-based and system change initiatives, using a variety of different evaluation processes and tools (such as logic models, theories of change, evaluation frameworks, indicator development, data support systems and reporting tools). The incumbent will have experience using a variety of evaluation approaches and methodologies, such as developmental, formative, and summative evaluations. In this position, the evaluator will work closely with a team in the INTREPID Lab at CAMH to evaluate various commercial tobacco cessation initiatives (including the Using and developing culturally-relevant evaluation approaches, methods, and dissemination strategies are a key component of the role. The Evaluator will facilitate and convene dialogues with a number of internal and external partners with various levels of evaluation literacy. The Evaluator will lead the development of relevant evaluation tools (e.g. surveys, focus group guides, arts-based methods, protocol development), and will also lead the collection, management, and reporting of qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., conducting interviews and focus groups, developing surveys in online data capture systems (i.e. REDCap), data storage and quality assurance, quantitative and qualitative analysis, data visualization, and report writing).
The Evaluator also contributes to programmatic and organizational support services, such as provincially-directed or community-initiated systems work as well as knowledge exchange and other duties as required. The incumbent may be able to work from anywhere in Ontario with reliable and secure internet connection with the expectation to travel to the head office located at 60 White Squirrel Way, Toronto, ON occasionally. This position may require travel throughout Ontario, including remote First Nations communities.
