THE CANADIAN REPORT
Sunday Editorial (Mar27)

So today, just for the hell of it, | started thinking about
Conservative politicians. In the states they call'em
Republicans. When you see any of these people talkin’
or when you read a quote of somethin’ they said, these
people sound like the stupidest mofos on the planet.

They never really seem to have any ideas of their own,
but instead what they do is just tell you how stupid the
Liberals and the Democrats are. They hammer on that
until they're all blue in the face.

But | think they're missin’ the boat here. You can't be
sounding like some sort of jack-ass every time you open
your mouth. People (except for the idiots) are gettin’
wise to that crap, and they just tune you out, because they
don’t want anybody thinkin’ that they take you seriously.

| get conservatism. But I'll tell you it's not the same as
it was before big business got its fangs into it and started
pouring money into campaign funds and back pockets to
get legislation that could keep them from doing whatever
they didn’t want to spent extra money to fix.

And look at the mess that’s got us into. We're countin’
down the years until this fuckin’ planet become uninhab-
itable by anything that needs air to breathe and water to
drink.

And all because a bunch of right wing political hacks
took the money and ran. What big business got in return
were great tax breaks, which in turn run up the deficits in
the countries where these tax breaks are available.

This same corruption is also responsible for the piss
poor corporate performance when it comes to reducing
the carbon footprints of their businesses.

Now before you go callin’ me a namby pamby libtard
or some such other crap, I'll tell you this BS happens on
both sides of the aisle. But the Cons and Republicans, are
definitely the recipients of the lion's share of the payola
here.

You wanna fix this? Easy peasy. Just take all the private
money out of campaign financing. Eliminate the money-for
-favours barter system. Level the playing field, and open up
opportunities for politicians to get honest again, and start
actually representing their constituents instead of the big
businesses they are in bed with.

A Sure Sign Of Spring

Jim Murray · Went outside this morning to do my walking and noticed that this was on my mailbox. These birds must have worked all night on this. Hope they got paid overtime. We think they're Robins. I carefully moved the nest to another location.
