    Senior Underwriter, Casualty
    AXIS Canada aims to enhance our brand and product offerings as a leading specialist insurer in Canada.

    As a Senior Casualty Underwriter, you will underwrite Excess and Primary solutions for a range of Middle Market and Risk Management accounts across Canada.

    Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other product lines to promote the AXIS Canada brand to our insured individuals and broker partners.

    The ideal candidate for the Senior Underwriter, Casualty role will be a hands-on expert with a proven track record in a top-tier Commercial Insurance Carrier.

    They should have experience in Primary and Excess Commercial Casualty, specifically General Liability, Employers Liability, and Product Liability. Their focus will be on Middle Market to Risk Management accounts across Manufacturing, Premises, and Energy.

    In addition to technical expertise, the Senior Underwriter should possess strong networking skills and the ability to establish relationships with retail brokers.

    They should also demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the underwriting process, including portfolio management, soliciting submissions, conducting underwriting analysis, and preparing and issuing indications, quotations, and binders.

    It is essential for them to establish solid connections that are advantageous for AXIS and contribute to long-term strategic endeavors.

    This role offers a blend of office and remote work, with three days spent in our Toronto office.

    Underwrite a book of Excess and Primary Casualty risks; Price a profitable book of Casualty risks appropriate to the business, based on underwriting, financial, and competitive analysis and in line with company guidelines.

    Respond to underwriting and marketing strategies and standards by executing a marketing plan that reflects local market conditions and, at the same time, meets growth and profit goals.

    As needed, develops specialized policy and endorsement language.

    Bachelor's degree required.
    CIP/FCIP, CRM preferred or working towards completing
    Technical underwriting skills and a high level of knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices and procedures.
    In-depth knowledge of Casualty lines of business and legal and regulatory guidelines in Canada.
    Advanced analytical and creative problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize.
    Energetic and passionate about the P&C insurance industry.
