- Keeping abreast of and communicating updated curriculum expectations ensuring alignment with evolving Ministry standards and assist teachers in implementing them into their programs.

- Take a lead role in collaborating with teachers to prepare for the Ministry of Education Inspection, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and up to date, thus ensuring compliance with Ministry standards.
- Assist with the ongoing development and execution of departmental vertical plans, ensuring alignment with ministry expectations, while also participating in department reviews.
- Oversee continuing education programs, including but not limited to summer school, experiential, and online learning, to ensure students receive quality educational opportunities outside of the regular day school program.
- Facilitate teacher mentoring, providing constructive feedback, and support to enhance pedagogical efficacy and professional development.
- Conduct performance appraisals and follow-up evaluations exclusively aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness and promoting professional growth.
- Collaborate with faculty to set and achieve professional goals, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and excellence.
- Assist with onboarding new teachers, facilitating their integration onto platforms such as PowerSchool and Schoology, and remain accessible for ongoing support and guidance.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to teachers on lesson planning, instructional strategies, and academic documents maintenance, review, and support, encompassing long-range plans, assessment and evaluation plans, daily lesson plans, course syllabi, and course of study.
- Uphold accountability standards by ensuring teachers fulfill their responsibilities effectively and efficiently, maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Provide effective strategies and support to ensure teachers are consistently and effectively holding students accountable for their learning and academic progress.
- Provide oversight to ensure teachers use a balanced assessment approach in their gradebooks, offering multiple opportunities per reporting period to accurately reflect student learning that provides sufficient feedback.
- Propose and/or present professional development sessions to enhance program delivery.
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing technology, including the ability to learn and adapt to various Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS), employing them judiciously to effectively support teachers in using them as tools to deliver their programs.
- Work with teachers to implement learning skills into courses in all subject areas and grade levels.
- Collaborate with teachers to tailor teaching methods based on class type, ensuring effective instructional delivery suited to diverse learning environments.
- Research, develop, and assist with the implementation of innovative ideas for assessment and evaluation methodologies that triangulate products, observations, and conversations to provide a holistic approach that aligns with Ministry policies.
- Attend curriculum committee meetings on behalf of the administration and bridge parent expertise and resources with teaching and learning.
- Facilitate research opportunities at all grade levels, including coordinating student engagement with the research coordinator.

De La Salle College is an independent, Roman Catholic, co-educational day school, founded in the teachings and traditions of St. John Baptist de La Salle. The Director of Academic Affairs reports directly to the principal and is responsible for assisting the administration with managing all facets of the academic program ensuring it aligns with the institution's educational objectives and mission. With a primary focus on supporting teachers in the development, implementation and delivery of their programs, the Director of Academic Affairs plays a central role in fostering an environment conducive to learning. Assisting the Principal with ministry inspections, facilitating faculty professional development initiatives, assisting with program and curriculum development, and spearheading academic policy formulation and implementation are central to this role.
The Director of Academic Affairs will also prioritize the alignment of curriculum with the College's core identity, rooted in Catholic, Lasallian, and Liberal Arts traditions, assist in ongoing development of departmental faith plans to uphold the school's mission, and attend department meetings to ensure collaborative alignment with institutional values and goals.
This role is instrumental in assisting the principal in advancing the institution's academic mission and vision while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and excellence.
