Pascali’s Island (Netflix)

Every once in a while | get curious about
some of the early roles that actors played
before they got uber famous.

In this case it was F. Murray Abraham, Helen
Mirrin, and to a lesser extent the British actor
Charles Dance. They are the principals in this
nice little character driven film.

It was released in 1987, when all three actors
were relatively young. although, | have to
admit F. Murray Abraham as always looked
like a bit of an old guy to me.

This movie is a nice change from the non-
stop action that most current movies and
series feel the need to blast at us.

It's a nicely rendered character piece, and as
such, really doesn’t date itself. There's a bit
of politics and a bit of voilence. But mostly
there's a lot of character and a touch of
tragic irony.

| recommend it just for the low key but nicely
modulated performances alone.
