MY BLURB: This is a classic spy drama. | won't call
it a thriller, because it's kinda slow but very atmo-
spheric. It's basically about a CIA investigation into
a hostage situation from years earlier.
One of the spooks in question, played very well
by Chris Pine, has to debrief another spook,
Thandiwe Newton, to find out just who it was that
sold out the CIA and caused the event to turn into
a real bloodbath and epic fail on the part of the
[a7 W
The tension that is created in this file is quite
good, as we find out that the relationship between
these two spooks was a lot more than just a work-
ing one.
Watching Chris Pine, who | have really only seen
as James T. Kirk of the starship Enterprise, really
reminded me of a young Brad Pitt. In fact, if this
had been made 15 or 20 years ago, that's probably
who would have been cast.
This story has a real insider feel to it, and though
it moved slowly, it moved deliberately and it really
is a good lesson for both filmmakers and screen-
writers that you don’t have to be blowing some-
thing up or killing somebody up every 10 minutes
to make a great movie.
