Post of Jim Murray

Tomorrow, Heather and I will have been married for 50 years. We had our ups and downs and craziness, most of which was mine. But we managed to hang in there. Through raising two kids, having maybe a dozen different jobs between us, Living in about 10 different places and going through some pretty serious medical stuff, we made it. I owe Heather more than I will ever be able to repay, for all the extra work she did to allow me the time to sit here tapping away on the keys, for all the love and support that she has given me so selflessly, and for the amazing mother she was that ensured our kids grew up with a real value system that has made them caring adults. And here we are in what will hopefully be our last house in one of the most beautiful parts of our country, with lots of family close by and a growing number of new friends. And I can honestly say the except for a few major screw ups and character flaws on my part, I wouldn't have had it any other way. I love Heather. Always have. Always will.

There Are No External Solutions for Internal Problems

Many of the problems we face in life may seem external but can usually be attributed to some internal conflict. This is especially true in romantic relationships. I recently watched a video where a young man was advising his peer group to work on their relationships rather than s ...

You will never be as cool as your grandmother

Rethinking Sex and Morality

What is it about sex that causes people to associate it with immorality and low integrity? Is it because it feels good and a long time ago, someone decided pleasure was sinful? Or is it just another vehicle for control? · Maybe it is because there is an entire industry around sel ...

Romances late in life

One of the realities of being our age, is that we lose life partners or our partners decide that they want to go on a different path then we do, and there is a parting of the ways. We are social creatures and so we, will after some time after a loss, seek out a new partner. · Whe ...

Sisters

When I was young, I listened to everything my sister, Maria told me. She was 4 years older than me and we shared a twin bed until we were in our teens, believe it or not. I used to make banana sandwiches with white bread, butter and banana slices topped with sugar. “Don’t put sug ...

Have You Ever Been a Protégé?

The word protégé is a fancy French word that we use in English. It makes us sound posh whenever we use it and really extraordinary if the word is used to describe us. I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about what it means to be a protégé being mentored by someone — not tr ...

Sex Ruins Everything!

Sex ruins everything. It’s a weird thought that popped into my head recently. I find it weird because I like sex, and I typically speak very openly about sex. No, guys, this is not an invitation to send me dirty messages. Somewhere along the line sex became that thing most women ...

The Insincerity of Words and Sex.
