    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Vela Software Group is looking for a Business Development Associate to join our mergers & acquisitions deal sourcing teams. The Business Development Associate will be responsible for sourcing, qualifying, nurturing, and managing a pipeline of acquisition opportunities.

    The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of surpassing targets in a fast-paced enterprise SaaS sales or deal sourcing environment, have an entrepreneurial spirit, be an independent thinker, and detail oriented. In addition, they should possess between 2-5 years of relevant experience in sales development or business development (including deal sourcing, cold-calling, pitching).

    The Business Development Associate will build relationships with CEOs, investment bankers, PE & VC funds, and other senior leaders, across a variety of industries, to identify and nurture attractive M&A opportunities that could grow our existing portfolio of software companies.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish, maintain, and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders of vertical market software businesses that meet our strategic criteria, helping to progress prospective targets through the deal sourcing pipeline
    • Identify strategic acquisition opportunities that meet our criteria, and add new companies and contacts to our proprietary CRM database
    • Analyze, manage, and search our existing CRM database for available prospects and stale leads that should be nurtured
    • Plan, develop, and conduct prospecting campaigns through LinkedIn, email, calling, attendance at trade shows, and in-person meetings

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2+ years of experience in long cycle enterprise software or sales and/or 1+ year of experience in M&A/VC/PE deal sourcing (experience in software Sales)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and capable of establishing and building rapport remotely
    • CRM database and company research skills (ideally Salesforce)
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in Business/Economics or related field is preferred but not required
    • Advanced time management, attention to detail, organizational, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
    • Adaptable and flexible, with an ability to respond to changing work priorities, pressure and demands
    • Must be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and think independently, and open to learning and sharing new ideas
    • Desire to travel to meet with companies / attend trade shows (ad hoc basis)
    • Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (nice-to-have)
    • Advanced Salesforce experience and proficiency in Salesforce reporting (nice-to-have)
    • Can speak multiple languages (nice-to-have)
