    The Regional Senior Investigator – Rail Investigations position reports directly to one of four Regional Operations Managers in the rail and pipeline investigations branch.

    The Regional Senior Investigator – Rail Investigations is responsible for leading and supporting rail occurrence investigations. This includes responding to rail occurrences across Canada, developing scientific investigation reports, and communicating investigation results.
    Positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements, location, and security requirements.
    On a case-by-case basis and based on the TSB's operational needs full time telework may be offered.
    A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position. Rail Traffic Controller (transportation); Certified car inspector; Rail traffic controller
    Rolling stock (cars, locomotives) inspection, maintenance, or repair;
    Design, modification, or testing of rolling stock and their components
    Various language requirements
    English essential, Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC.
    Ability to analyze technical and/or safety issues and assess their impacts.
    Ability to lead major projects or investigations.
    Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Asset Qualifications – Education
    Technical College diploma / certification from a recognized institution.
    Asset Qualifications – Experience
    Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing risk-mitigating strategies.
    Experience in writing technical or accident reports.
    Experience working for a regulatory agency. Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, women
    Possess a valid driver's license in Canada.

    Agree to deploy to accident sites where there may be exposure to disagreeable and difficult working conditions and to extreme climatic conditions.

    Agree to respond and travel on short notice during and after normal working hours and on statutory holidays.
    Agree to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
    Willingness to undergo TSB required training.
