    Communications Coordinator

    Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto

    Located in the heart of one of the world's most multicultural cities, Wycliffe College is a historic graduate theological school affiliated with the University of Toronto, and a founding member of the Toronto School of Theology.     Wycliffe College is seeking to fill the position of Communications Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, the Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission by developing and executing strategic Communications to engage current and new stakeholders, raise awareness of the College, and bolster student recruitment, outreach, and fundraising efforts. The Communications Coordinator plays a part in defining and promoting Wycliffe College values and culture and helps to foster a shared understanding within the organization.

    EXPECTATIONS:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive Communications strategies to effectively convey Wycliffe's mission, goals, and impact across various mediums and platforms including but not limited to social media, website, email newsletters, news releases, videos, blogs, magazines, newsletters, promotional materials, advertising, merchandise, and special projects.
    • Ensure alignment with the Wycliffe College brand in terms of content, tone, theological position, and visual representation.
    • Collaborate with key departments (Principal's Office, Registrar, Recruitment, Outreach, Development) to understand their needs and ensure appropriate Communications support.
    • Work with internal teams to identify storytelling opportunities and gather content such as photos, videos, quotes, testimonials, etc.
    • Oversee website including writing, editing, and loading content with an eye to SEO and AODA considerations, and by working with appropriate technology providers to ensure its proper functionality. Essential content to include but not limited to news items, course offerings, event pages, and other timely components.
    • Execute social media strategy by curating, creating, and posting timely, relevant, and engaging content, moderating and interacting with comments, requests, and conversation in a timely manner, and administering all logistics and scheduling. Channels currently include Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
    • Curate & develop content for, prepare, and distribute the monthly e-newsletter: The and support other departments needing additional email marketing campaigns through preparation and distribution.
    • Advise on strategy and coordinate all aspects of print and digital advertising for the College.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with select media outlets to secure media coverage and maximize visibility for the College.
    • Oversee College photography & video collection, organization, and use.
    • Coordinate & promote the Wycliffe College blog by writing, editing, and posting.
    • Provide graphic design, writing, proofreading, and editing support for departments as needed.
    • Coordinate the purchase of branded merchandise, displays, event supplies.
    • Establish standards for the regular tracking and analysis of meaningful website, email, and social media metrics, and prepare and provide reports quarterly or as requested. Monitor and analyze metrics to track the effectiveness of Communications efforts and identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide editorial leadership, creative vision, content creation, and overall coordination of annual magazine.
    • Attend appropriate Wycliffe College events to write follow-up pieces for various purposes.
    • Interview alumni, students, volunteers, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders, with the purpose of developing and growing a repository of stories, experiences, and quotes for promotional use.
    • Coordinate the work of the Wycliffe College Branding Committee.
    • Support the Ad Hoc Crisis Communications Committee as needed.
    • Work to the highest standard of ethical practice with maturity, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times.
    • Provide a positive influence throughout the organization by fostering a commitment to teamwork and excellence, contributing to a climate of professionalism, openness, and respect, and exemplifying the Wycliffe College brand and values at all times.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Demonstrated understanding of the Christian culture in Canada.
    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and engaging content for various audiences and platforms.
    • Proven track record of successfully executing Communications strategies and campaigns that drive results.
    • Proficiency in website management, storytelling, social media management, branding, email marketing.
    • Demonstrated experience in project management, advertising, video production, print production, metric analysis, and graphic design.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines working both independently and in a team.
    • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
    • Creative abilities to be resourceful and cost-efficient.
    • Personal values that match Wycliffe College's core values.
    • Passion and appreciation for the role of theological education in the future thriving of the local church.

    OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

    • Familiarity and comfort working in a Christian setting. An understanding of the Evangelical Anglican experience and application an asset.
    • Experience in a post-secondary setting preferred.
    • Eligible to work in Canada.

    Salary range is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, plus benefits & pension, includes 3 weeks' vacation (one of these weeks occurs over Christmas when the office is closed), and is commensurate with experience. A laptop is provided for all required work-related activity including phone calls via Microsoft Teams, enabling the flexibility to work remotely up to one day per week as mutually agreed upon. A dedicated workstation in a shared office space at the College is provided. A vulnerable sector police check is required.
