    Job Summary

    A senior position within the Innovation Department, the Innovation Manager – Plumbing and Mechanical will effectively navigate the development of new products through the organization, have strong team/project management skills, and the ability to guide and support the work of their reports. They will also represent the Innovation department in segment initiatives, working closely with Sales, Marketing and Product Management teams.

    Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead cross functional teams through the Aliaxis Innovation Model (AIM) process for key new product developments; often large in scale, strategic in nature, or requiring substantial amounts of investment. This includes building and writing business cases and presenting to the senior management team. Active leadership of these projects is expected elevating one's involvement beyond basic project management.
  • Identify customer pain points and seek to develop solutions which solve real customer problems, working closely with design researchers, product designers, and product managers to do so.
  • Mentor, develop, and act as a key project resource for direct reports - Project Leader (2x) and Project Coordinator (1x) - who are responsible for their own new product development projects and initiatives within the department.
  • Advocate for, and bring attention to, upcoming product launches, key strategic projects, bottlenecks, and resources required to accelerate development efforts.
  • Actively participate in segment initiatives and meetings including Gate 1 idea screenings, quarterly PMR meetings, and Innovation portfolio reviews by working effectively with Marketing, Product Management and Sales teams. Review the active Plumbing/Mechanical Innovation projects to ensure alignment with multi-year segment growth plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as customers, partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback, learning from both successes and failures, and iterating on innovation processes and practices.
  • Participate in post launch activities including post launch reviews, internal/external trainings, and tradeshows.

    • Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical Diploma or Degree in an engineering or business-related discipline preferred with at least three years of experience in technical sales or new product development.
  • Experience with product development methods, including leading large cross-functional teams, is a definite asset.
  • Highly versatile; able to handle a wide range of responsibilities and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role requires adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to take on new challenges. A collaborator and problem solver with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing
  • Required to travel throughout North America and will vary depending on specific workload nights/year on the road is not uncommon.
