    Introduction

    We are seeking a Business Controller to join our finance team. You will be responsible for assuring the proper recording, reporting and analyzing of all financial results of Metso in accordance with Metso's management accounting policies and reporting procedures. Your role plays a crucial part in working with the Metals business area, specifically focusing on project coordinating, as well as financial review and providing timely feedback to all BA/BL requests. In this position, you will report to the Country Controller, AMD Canada.

    This position is mainly located in Burlington, ON and Lachine, QC, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. however, it involves up to 10% travel.

    You will join a team of business controllers dedicated to providing relevant and accurate financial information and business analysis for management decision making, planning, target setting, change management and controlling purposes.

    What you'll do

  • Main Finance contact for the Metals BL in Canada – Smelting Shut down Services business.
  • Responsible for leading monthly, quarterly, year end closing and reporting.
  • Provide support for specific projects with ability to generate timely reports.
  • Work with insurance broker to ensure compliance for local coverages on General, Product and Automobile Liabilities.
  • Work with Director of Shut Down Services to develop cost center budgets – including headcount and assessments.
  • Create/analyze BA specific financial reports and assist in analyzing Metals BA results.
  • Liaise with Credit Collections for customer AR issues.
  • Aid to solve AP issues ensuring vendor queries are addressed in a timely fashion
  • Some involvement in ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to such as work permits for overseas projects.
  • Main point of contact during financial audit process (internal and external); ensuring statutory compliance with local laws in Canada.
  • Advise managers of proper accounting treatment of various accounting issues.
  • Provide special analysis of financial data as required.
  • Make prudent business decisions consistent with normal operations.
  • Performs other duties and/or other special projects as required.
  • The position may require international and domestic travel.

    • Who you are

  • Five (5) years' experience in overseeing an accounting department including period closing as well as day to day operations.
  • Experience in accounting in a global multi-product line environment helpful.
  • Change management experience including working with operations management to drive results.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to identify operational opportunities and risks.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Enables and inspires performance with quality and speed.
  • Mindset to drive results and growth with proactive attitude.
  • A genuine team player with a collaborative mind set.
  • Possess the knowledge and initiative to delegate appropriate responsibilities to the other accounting staff and lead different stakeholders towards the same goal.
  • Excellent accounting aptitude, oral and written communication skills, knowledge of personal computers utilizing Microsoft spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Continually review accounting systems and controls and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting information.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-language atmosphere.
