OPPENHEIMER
( 3 Spuds on Prime)

This is a gargantuan movie and a piece
of really important American history
that surrounded the creation of the
hydrogen bombs that the US dropped
on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to bring
about and end of the WWII.

Everybody in it from top to bottom
does an amazing job. The script is
brilliant. The look is authentic and the
fireworks are scary as hell.

Having said all that, I was profoundly saddened by this
movie. Mainly because the real story here is the underlying
theme of political expedience over scientific wisdom.

Robert Oppenheimer was in charge of a huge team of
people tasked with building this horrible thing. And then
after he had done it, and it was used to destroy hundreds of
thousands of people, his own government proceeded to crap
all over him.

The movie was made more profoundly sad by the very
reason of its quality, thanks to writer/director Christopher
Nolan, who was in complete control of this film and it shone
brightly.

But I think he was also trying to make a heavy duty
statement with this film because that’s exactly what he did.

I recommend it because truly great movies are few and
far between. But it was pretty sad all the same. And things
in the US haven't really changed all that much since the end
of WWII, although one can’t help but wish they would.
