    DIRECTOR DEVELOPMENT, MAJOR GIFTS AND OPERATIONS – KIDS HEALTH LINKS FOUNDATION

    The Director of Development, Major Gifts, and Operations is the senior leadership position of the Foundation and is accountable to the Chairperson-Founder and the Board of Directors. The incumbent will be responsible for both the programmatic and fundraising aspects of the Foundation and advancing KHLF's mission by cultivating and securing (major) donations from various sources and overseeing program development and implementation. Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000

    ORIGIN : Founded by Christina and Basile Papaevangelou in 2004 after her near death from Toxic Shock, KHLF is a National Charity based in Oakville, Ontario. We have empowered adolescents living with chronic conditions and life challenges and the professionals who have cared for them since 2007. We are the only charity in Canada specializing in online child life interventions and peer-to-peer support for youth living with medical conditions and other life challenges. We also provide adolescents with the tools to cope with stressful life events. Since KHLF's founding, the foundation and The Board of Directors have raised more than $ 6,000,000 to deliver on our Mission and Vision.

    VISION : To be the premier national social and clinical support network that connects youth, teens, and health professionals to enhance their quality of life.

    MISSION : To empower youth and teens living with chronic conditions, grief, mental health, and other life challenges and their health professionals by connecting them through inclusive communities of support and practice. To BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES by fostering innovation and enhancing knowledge to improve care, health, and well-being across all sectors and communities (geographic, ethnic, and cultural).

    We provide at no cost three key programs:

    – UPOPOLIS is a private, safe, secure, and moderated online community that enables peer-to-peer engagement, connecting youth and teens facing life challenges to reduce isolation and stress and help them cope and live well.

    – Two online communities of practice: UPEDIA – for pediatric health care practitioners and UMIND – for child and youth mental health professionals facilitating professional peer-to-peer engagement, knowledge exchange, professional development, education, and sharing of best practices.

    Our work supports the World Health Organization's definition of health.

    Our social technology for pediatric mental health and child life professionals allows them to connect and share best practices, research, tools, experience, advocacy, and continuing professional development through accredited webinars.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    • This role oversees all fundraising and development activities within the organization.
    • Leads all philanthropic efforts and raising funds for the foundation's day-to-day program delivery
    • Builds and maintains relationships with major donors and philanthropic partners.
    • Responsible for managing and coordinating various fundraising initiatives.
    • Responsible for the Foundation's strategic planning and day-to-day operations and programs.
    • Overseeing fundraising campaigns, donor relations, and development initiatives.
    • Building a funding reserve equal to a minimum of 2 years of Foundation operating expenses ( $1,000,0000 total).
    • The senior-level position focused on cultivating and managing partners and major donors.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, social work, business); advanced degrees or certifications may be preferred.
    • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, including securing substantial donations.
    • Commitment to the charity's mission and values and a passion for its cause.
    • Proven experience in program development and management within the nonprofit sector.
    • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grant writing and proposal development.
    • Strong leadership and team management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of program evaluation and data analysis.
    • Budgeting and financial management experience.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    MAJOR GIFTS & FUNDRAISING:

    • Identify and research potential donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
    • Develop and execute a major gifts fundraising strategy, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, providing them with opportunities to engage with the organization's mission.
    • Create compelling proposals and presentations to secure major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
    • Collaborate with the development team to coordinate major gift efforts and ensure consistent messaging and donor recognition.
    • Meet or exceed fundraising targets and goals established in the organization's annual and strategic plan.

    DONOR ENGAGEMENT & STEWARDSHIP:

    • Develop and implement donor engagement and recognition strategies to enhance donor loyalty and retention.
    • Ensure that major donors are informed about the organization's activities, impact, and outcomes.
    • Organize and participate in meetings, events, and site visits to engage with major donors and discuss the organization's programs.

    REPORTING & DOCUMENTATION:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor interactions, gifts, and communications records.
    • Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, major gifts progress, and fundraising performance for the Board Of Directors.

    STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT:

    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including program participants, donors, partners, and community organizations.
    • Collaborate with external partners to leverage resources and support for program initiatives.
    • Engage with program beneficiaries to gather feedback and meet their needs.

    OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP:

    • Develop and implement the organization's programs and initiatives in alignment with its mission and strategic objectives.
    • Lead program staff, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure the successful execution of programs.
    • Monitor and evaluate program performance, measuring outcomes and impact and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to ensure programs are integrated effectively into the Foundation's operations, Annual Business, and Strategic Plans.

    BUDGET & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

    • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
    • Monitor program expenses and revenue, making recommendations for adjustments when necessary.
    • Seek and secure funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support program initiatives.

    EVALUATION & REPORTING:

    • Establish program evaluation processes, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on program outcomes and impact.
    • Prepare regular reports on program performance and achievements for the Board of Directors.
    • Use evaluation data to inform decision-making and drive program improvements.
