    The Position:

    The Senior Director of Community Services and Partnership Development reports to the Executive Director and is a key member of Hull's senior leadership teams. This role requires close collaboration with other Senior Directors and with the Senior Operations Team.

    The Senior Director plays a key role in upholding Hull Services' profile as a leading provider of child, youth, and family mental health services. The Senior Director supports the development, delivery, and enhancement of a continuum of community-based services, from early intervention/prevention through to child intervention. In addition, the Senior Director plays a key role in identifying and developing productive partnerships within communities, systems, and other service providers to ensure the visibility, sustainability and relevance of our programs and services.

    The Senior Director will maintain an Agency perspective, and demonstrate effective collaboration with the board, management, and all program levels for the purpose of decision making, problem solving and innovation.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of effective operational and strategic plans; providing a community focus.
  • Provide effective leadership for community programs within the portfolio, facilitating coordination and integration of these inclusive, meaningful, and responsive community-based services; help ensure teams are working collaboratively to meet service delivery goals and address challenges.
  • Support all Agency programs to explore how they can work with communities to meet their challenges; help programs become unified in philosophy, practice and measurement.
  • Provide overall clinical supervision for assigned programs and maintain the integrity of clinical practice at Hull Services.
  • Ensure programs and services meet accreditation standards, licensing requirements and expectations for continuous quality improvement.
  • Monitor program outcomes and ensure the Agency continues to be an innovative, best practice, evidence informed provider of mental health services for children, youth adults and families, especially in relation to early intervention strategies.
  • Track and assess needs and opportunities in the community where Hull can respond as a collaborator, partner, or provider in service delivery; help in accessing data, literature, and funding trends to identify community needs and service innovations.
  • Work with Children and Family Services to identify needs and strategies for Hull's role in the development of community services.
  • Develop and manage program budgets in consultation with funders and the Finance department.
  • Collaborate with Development & Communications, help identify funding sources and build strong relationships with funders and other community partners, including the United Way of Calgary and Area, Family and Community and Social Services, the City of Calgary.
  • Oversee the contract management of assigned programs, ensuring timely proposals, renewals and reporting; ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources to manage performance and address HR issues.
  • Supervise Program Directors, conduct performance evaluations and assist in their growth as leaders; build on the knowledge and abilities of assigned teams; ensure all staff are receiving regular supervision, training and support.
  • Promote a respectful and healthy workplace culture and ensure overall safety and well-being of program staff.
  • Assume direct leadership and decision-making functions, as required, in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Act as an effective member of identified internal and external committees consisting of diverse stakeholders.
  • Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master's Degree from a recognized university combined with several years of clinical and senior management experience.
  • High professional and ethical standards, working in accordance with ethical codes adopted by the relevant profession and endorsed by the Agency.
  • A thorough understanding of the Agency's mission, philosophy, goals, and management systems.
  • Experience in developing an inspiring vision for an organization, implementing operational and strategic plans, achieving staff support and influencing positive change.
  • Skilled at monitoring outcomes, conducting research, and identifying opportunities for the advancement of programs and services.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational development, problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as cross cultural competence, including competence in the provision of Indigenous cultural services.
  • Excellent interpersonal qualities including flexibility, effective communication, positivity, and relationship building skills.
  • An ability to maintain effective, collaborative, and professional working relations with all Agency programs and departments, as well as funders, community partners and stakeholders.
  • Discretion, tact, and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • A strong work ethic, self-motivation and demonstrated ability to engage and develop others.
