    Parkinson Canada Volunteer Opportunity
    Growling Beaver Brevet Volunteer Lead

    We provide education and services, and we advocate with federal, provincial, and territorial governments on issues that matter to the Parkinson's community in Canada.

    The Parkinson Research Program funds innovative research to search for better treatments and a cure.

    The Growling Beaver Brevet Volunteer Lead play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson's.

    They champion and lead the coordination of the Growling Beaver event in Collingwood, Ontario, from start to finish, with support from Parkinson Canada.

    You will support the organizing committee and ensure a positive experience for event participants.

    You will solicit sponsors in conjunction with the Sponsorship Coordinator and ensure the funds collected the day of the event are properly recorded and deposited.

    Ensure all activities and actions connected with Growling Beaver volunteer management are done in alignment with Parkinson Canada policies, procedures and values.

    As Volunteer Lead, your people-skills, enthusiasm, and talent for organizing make you an excellent community facilitator. You enjoy guiding and mentoring other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks.

    As someone who loves event logistics, you excel at key tasks, including:

    Representing Parkinson Canada in the community
    Securing new volunteers and inviting past volunteers to take part in the event
    Securing and picking up donated items for each check point, compiling items and coordinating pick up.
    Attend virtual organizing meetings with the planning committee and 1:1 meetings with Parkinson Canada staff.
    Preparing volunteer teams and volunteer leads for approximately 8 different checkpoint locations
    Track all event expenses related to volunteers, checkpoints and travel according to Parkinson Canada policies.
    Working with Parkinson Canada staff on set up, problem solving and post event wrap up.

    Ability to delegate and hold volunteers accountable
    Superior communications skills and ability to keep multiple stakeholders apprised of event details and progress

    As a Volunteer Lead for the Growling Beaver event, you will have the opportunity to develop leadership and management skills in a context outside of regular employment.

    You can network within a related field and work with a great group of people.

    During this time you would be attending one hour monthly virtual meetings from not until August and weekly virtual meeting starting September.

    Time will also be spent emailing and coordinating with volunteers outside of he meetings.
    The Growling Beaver takes place Saturday October 5th
